Online Trauma & EMDR Therapy in Washington
When the past won’t stay in the past
Some things happened a long time ago (or more recently), and your body may not have gotten the memo. If you react bigger than the moment calls for, stay on high alert, or can’t shake an old memory, there’s usually a reason.
I’m Kim. I offer trauma and EMDR online across Washington at a pace you control.
What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy recognized as an evidence-based treatment for trauma (and anxiety and depression and many other diagnoses). While you focus on a “stuck” memory, we use bilateral stimulation, like eye movements or gentle tapping, which can help your brain reprocess it so it feels less intense. You don’t have to retell every detail out loud. It’s also not hypnosis, and I won’t be waving a pendulum.
What does trauma mean?
Trauma isn’t only about what happened. It’s about what your mind and body learned in order to cope. It can come from one overwhelming event or from years of carrying too much. It can show up as being on edge, shutting down, or slipping into automatic “I’m fine” mode. You don’t need a diagnosis or a “big enough” story. If it still affects you, it’s worth exploring.
Does EMDR work online?
Yes! EMDR can be especially effective through telehealth. For some people, doing this work from the comfort of their own space can feel immensely supportive.
We meet over secure video, and I guide you through bilateral stimulation using on-screen eye movements or gentle self-tapping. We practice together before getting started, so you know what to expect and can feel more comfortable with the process.
We’ll move at a pace that feels right for you.
Does this sound familiar?
Reactions that feel bigger than the moment
Feeling on guard, jumpy, or numb
Memories, images, or feelings that show up uninvited
Avoiding people, places, or topics that feel like too much
Feeling disconnected from yourself, or stuck in survival mode
Knowing something is “in the past” but not feeling like it’s truly in the past
Is EMDR right for me?
EMDR isn’t right for everyone or every situation. We’ll start with the basics: your history, what you want to change, and whether you have enough steady ground to begin. Some people start with EMDR. Others need skills first, and that’s a perfectly good place to start.
Who it can help
People carrying difficult or painful experiences that still feel present
Teens 13+ and adults whose stress responses seem bigger than the situation
People-pleasers, caregivers, and “responsible ones” whose patterns trace back to early experiences, where understanding the pattern isn’t enough to change it
You set the pace
You don’t have to tell me everything. We won’t dive in on day one. We begin with building steadiness, then go only as fast as feels workable, and you can pause at any time. My approach is trauma-informed, meaning your safety and choices come first. I’m EMDR-trained (and working toward certification), and I use it alongside approaches like CBT, depending on what fits you.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. You may have questions about what therapy will actually look like, whether we’ll be a good fit, or even where to begin.
The free consultation is simply a chance to talk. You can tell me a little bit about what brings you here, ask questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels right. There is no pressure to schedule.

Our first session is a little different from a typical therapy session. I’ll spend some time getting to know you, talk about what brought you to therapy, and look at what you hope will change. I will ask questions about your history and what’s happening in your life now so we can begin to understand the bigger picture.
There will be plenty of time for your questions, too. We will use what we learn together to begin figuring out what approach makes the most sense for you.
Delivered via secure, HIPAA-compliant video session (60-90 minutes) - $145

Our sessions will look different depending on what you need. Sometimes we may slow down and make sense of something that keeps happening. Sometimes we’ll work on a practical problem that is making life hard. And sometimes we’ll spend time using bilateral stimulation (EMDR) or diving deep into a reaction that seems bigger than the situation itself.
I draw from several approaches, including CBT, relational work, and EMDR, depending on what fits you and what we are working on.

Virtual sessions are currently available throughout Washington State via secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions, with in-person therapy options available on the Key Peninsula (coming soon!).

Estuary Wellness & Counseling is currently an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance directly at this time. Superbills are provided upon request for clients to submit to their insurance company for possible reimbursement for counseling costs.
Reduced-fee sliding scale spots are available in limited capacity for individuals experiencing financial hardship. I want cost to be as transparent as possible, and when I have the capacity, I reserve a small number of reduced-fee spots for clients experiencing financial hardship via OpenPath Collective.
Please feel welcome to reach out with questions.
