Online Therapy for Teens 13+ in Washington
Are you exhausted from always being the “good kid”?
Being a teenager comes with a lot: school, friends, sports, grades, and a group chat that never sleeps. You’re supposed to be figuring out who you are while everyone seems to have opinions about it.
If you’re the one who keeps the peace, gets the grades, and takes care of everyone else, being “fine” all the time is exhausting. I’m Kim, a former school counselor and teacher, and I offer online therapy for teens across Washington that’s real, low-pressure, and lecture-free.
Parents: if this sounds like your teen, you’re in the right place.
Sound familiar?
For teens:
You say yes, then immediately regret it
You’ve apologized three times today, and all you did was accidently bump into someone in the hall
You worry a lot about disappointing people
You’re the “easy” or “mature” one
School and stress never take a day off
You feel stuck, flat, or like no one really gets it
For parents:
Your teen answers “fine” to everything, including questions that weren’t yes-or-no
They never cause trouble, but you sense the quiet is carrying something
Sleep, school, or friendships have changed
You want to help and aren't sure how
Why “good kids” struggle
Teens who people-please usually figured out early that keeping everyone happy keeps things calm. It works, until it costs too much. Therapy isn’t about changing your teen’s personality. It’s about helping them say no without guilt, trust their own voice, and handle stress in ways that actually work.
For teens in busy or demanding households
Some teens grow up where someone else needs extra care, like a sibling with exceptional needs or a parent under heavy stress. They often become the “easy” kid and quietly learn to need less. If that’s your teen, they are in good company. They get a space here that’s just theirs.
FAQs

I’m naturally curious, direct, and occasionally funny. Sessions aren’t a lecture or a quiz. We talk about what’s actually going on, and I teach practical tools for stress, anxiety, and big feelings. I draw on approaches like CBT and mindfulness, and when it’s a good fit, EMDR. I also explain why brains and nervous systems do what they do, in plain language. Teens often find it a relief to learn that their reactions make sense.
I spent 20+ years in education as a classroom teacher and school counselor, so I know what school, friend drama, and home pressure look like when they all show up in the same week.

Anxiety, people-pleasing, school stress, friendships, identity, big transitions, and emotional challenges

I encourage parents to be collaborative partners in the therapy process. Teens also need room to talk openly.
According to Washington state law, individuals 13 years and older are given full rights over their mental health.
Unless there is an immediate safety concern, you will get to decide what is shared with your parents.
-
No. I do ask that parents or guardians join the first session, but after that your teen gets the room.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. You may have questions about what therapy will actually look like, whether we’ll be a good fit, or even where to begin.
The free consultation is simply a chance to talk. You can tell me a little bit about what brings you here, ask questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels right. There is no pressure to schedule.

Our first session is a little different from a typical therapy session. I’ll spend some time getting to know you, talk about what brought you to therapy, and look at what you hope will change. I will ask questions about your history and what’s happening in your life now so we can begin to understand the bigger picture.
There will be plenty of time for your questions, too. We will use what we learn together to begin figuring out what approach makes the most sense for you.
Delivered via secure, HIPAA-compliant video session (60-90 minutes) - $145

Our sessions will look different depending on what you need. Sometimes we may slow down and make sense of something that keeps happening. Sometimes we’ll work on a practical problem that is making life hard. And sometimes we’ll spend time using bilateral stimulation (EMDR) or diving deep into a reaction that seems bigger than the situation itself.
I draw from several approaches, including CBT, relational work, and EMDR, depending on what fits you and what we are working on.

Virtual sessions are currently available throughout Washington State via secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions, with in-person therapy options available on the Key Peninsula (coming soon!).

Estuary Wellness & Counseling is currently an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance directly at this time. Superbills are provided upon request for clients to submit to their insurance company for possible reimbursement for counseling costs.
Reduced-fee sliding scale spots are available in limited capacity for individuals experiencing financial hardship. I want cost to be as transparent as possible, and when I have the capacity, I reserve a small number of reduced-fee spots via OpenPath Collective for clients experiencing financial hardship.
Please feel welcome to reach out with questions.
